FRIENDS OF JODENSAVANNE
Preserving the First Jewish Autonomous Settlement in the Americas
Jodensavanne is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the earliest architecturally significant synagogue ruins in the Americas. Founded in 1685 and inscribed by UNESCO in September 2023, it is co-managed by the Jodensavanne Foundation and the Redi Doti Indigenous community. By joining as a Friend, you help protect the site, bring Suriname's children into direct contact with their history, and strengthen a visitor experience rooted in memory, stewardship, and shared national identity.
